Inspired by my time in Cleveland, Ohio, and witnessing neighborhoods fall into decay while others were being rebuilt, I See Hope explores the tension between what is and what could be. Places like the Forgotten Triangle, where entire neighborhoods were lost to fire and neglect, became the backdrop for imagining the lives of children and families who might call these spaces home. Through a combination of found wood, wallpaper, drawing, and painting, each work juxtaposes deterioration with possibility. Though the imagery speaks of abandonment and loss, the spaces themselves remain full of hope, potential, and the promise of something more.
